| FAIRBORN, Ohio (CNN) -- A 13-year-old honor student, suspended from school for accepting two Midol tablets from a classmate, returned to the classroom Thursday after school officials agreed to end her suspension a day early. An honor student for the past three years who had perfect attendance last year, Erica Taylor served nine days of a 10- day suspension for having the over-the-counter medicine, which is used for headaches, cramps and other discomforts of menstruation. She was allowed back a day early after agreeing to attend a drug awareness program. As part of the agreement, she will be allowed to make up her schoolwork and her record will reflect a three-day suspension. "I want to get back to school," she said Wednesday. "I don't want to fail eighth grade." Erica said she didn't take the tablets even though she didn't feel well. The school district's anti-drug policy does not distinguish between legal and illegal, or prescription and nonprescription drugs. The classmate who gave her the medicine had her suspension reduced to three days after undergoing drug counseling.
