School Punishes Student for Casting Spell Brandi Blackbear, 15, was suspended for two weeks by her high school in Oklahoma after she allegedly cast a magic spell that made one of her teachers sick. Brandi and her ACLU lawyers are suing the school board to clear her record. (If she was really such a good witch, would she need a lawyer?) more>> "I Thought I Saw a Tweety Bird—I Did! I Did!" You're Suspended Eleven-year-old Ashley Smith was suspended from her middle school in Georgia when school officials spotted a small chain that connected her Tweety Bird key ring and wallet. The school has a "zero-tolerance" policy barring students from carrying any sort of weapon, and school officials decided the chain was a potential weapon.The American Civil Liberties Union succeeded in getting Ashley back into school.
