When I introduced this ideabook to the editor of Houzz, she told me that the hottest photograph on Houzz is of a pantry. This indicates to me that there’s a huge need for some solid info on the best way to create the perfect pantry — one that is functional and looks good at precisely the same moment. Below you will find tips to creating a pantry that you can take pride in, which makes your life easier every day.

1. Provide easy accessibility. I hear from customers all of the time about how frustrating it’s to lose things in the back of their pantries. Or how when they’re cleaning it out, they find something out of the late ’70s. Create an opening to your pantry that permits you to observe the whole pantry at precisely the same moment.

Here’s another fantastic example of how to design a cabinet. 2 sets of double doors that match the cabinetry make for a pantry. By using cabinet doors on the outside, this pantry feels at home in this contemporary kitchen.

2. For a walk-in pantry, start looking for a way to integrate your pantry in the present cabinetry. There is a huge number of pantries on the market (most built in the 1980s and 1990s) that are little rooms inside a space. Recently, I have been carrying these rooms out and integrating the pantry into the cabinetry design.

This photograph shows a completely different spin on that notion, leaving the walk-in part undamaged and disguising the pantry doorway as part of the cabinetry. I really like this idea and will most probably be using it at an upcoming design.

3. Look for under-utilized space. Often the distance at the conclusion of a cabinetry operate is difficult to fill with storage. In the last several years, we’ve been seeing substantial pull-out pantries used in locations like this. It’s the ideal use of this distance. In this kitchen, the pull-out can be used to store spices and baking supplies next to the cooking place.

4. Particular hardware accessories are fantastic for complete utilization of a space. Spinning, rotating, moving, slipping, oh my! This seemingly complicated storage method provides one easy purpose: use virtually every square inch of this space for storage.

Racks on the doors are fantastic for spice containers. The other shelves hold larger items. By using this type of system, you can create a deep pantry and get to things in the very back without having to crawl into your cupboards. If you’re merely attempting to redo an present cabinet or pantry, talk with a local cabinet manufacturer about integrating some of the numerous storage choices.

5. Utilize height to your benefit. Some kitchens simply don’t have the space for a large pantry. If yours is among these, think about a “step” solution. This places the food farther back to the shelf on measures, letting you find out what’s on your pantry.

6. Group your storage. Aside from the efficiency of putting groceries away, placing all food storage at exactly the same region of the kitchen makes life easier when cooking. Just make sure you get a counter space in this region as a landing place when putting groceries away or through food prep.

7. If it’s pretty, show it off. My mother always said, “If you can’t fix it, feature it.” This saying is so apropos here. Pantries are not typically thought of as really exquisite spaces. But why don’t you make one that you’re prepared to show off? Straightforward white shelving, pendant lighting and a pair of French doors makes this pantry a showcase.

8. Take the notion of “Cabinet” to a new level. Less pantry, much more wow! There is something so romantic about a little room completely outfitted with all you’d need to bake a cake or will the year’s yield of cucumbers. Do you have a fresh closet or small room from the kitchen that might serve this kind of purpose? It could change how you view your kitchen completely.
